Worker Days And Minimum Wage Quite a lot has been said about the recent pronouncement of the Nigerian labour congress and Trade union congress on the increase of minimum wage from 18000 Naira to something that actually reflects the actual economic situation of the country. According to the NLC president, When the wage was increased by the past administration in 2011, the equivalent to the dollar was $110, now it is $40. Following this reality, the Labour union is calling for an increase in welfare package, as salaries are not commensurate to what is been sold in the market. Someone like me aims to draw a line with this post. 1. A barrel of oil was selling for $145/per barrel as at the time the salaries of workers were increased, now they are below $55/per barrel. 2.
