PDP And Opposition

Before the 2015 elections, it was no news that there was an opposing party in the offing, to challenge the PDP  during the general elections. APC was like a dog barking out on social media and other platforms, about the misrule by the ousted PDP party.

APC was very vocal of government policies and actions and was also quick to dispell grand projects so claimed by the PDP government.

It is almost two years since the elections were held and lost, we are yet to see any form of opposition from the PDP.  It is not as if there is nothing to talk about, considering the way the present government is been run. Rather, they seem to have kept quite, for reasons best known to them.

I understand the party is under immense pressure due to internal rift between the Makarfi and Ali Modu Sherrif faction, they lost an election, but did they lose their voice?

Sometimes I see it as they have nothing to offer as the reason for their silence. There are lots of talking points on the administration of the current government. An example is the drop of value of the naira that has led to inflation and hardship on common Nigerians, The Buhari infamous vacation trip to London and on how his SSA on media have not communicated with him since he left, are all talking points. To everything that concerns the common man.

Instead of being an opposition, PDP is making a mockery of democracy. 2019 is around the corner, and they still haven't gotten their house in order. it is no surprise the ruling party is taking advantage of the situation by winning state elections in Benin, Ondo, and Kogi.

One would wonder why the continuous mention of only two parties while Nigeria operates a multiparty system. The truth is that none of the other political parties measure up to this two, in terms of followership and supporters. It is between them and the rest over here in Nigeria.

The sweetest thing about democracy is having a compelling need to change and a lot of viable options at your disposal. So far, Nigerians have only being strongarmed and put into a corner. Where we only take whatever is given to us. This is a real shame.
