Dino Melaye; A Saint Of Controversy

Dino Melaye is a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria under the current 8th assembly, headed by Senate President Abubakar Bukola  Saraki. He is the incumbent senator representing Kogi west senatorial district and Chairman Senate Committee on FCT.

Dino, as he is popularly called, has never shied away from controversy. From his days of partying with semi-nude women on his yachts during his holidays to him having a banter with senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the APC  stalwart, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and now to his recent controversy; authentication of his numerous degrees and his coming out with 3rd class from ABU Zaria.

My aim today is not to vilify the man upon his recent controversy, but to seriously as ask; Why always Dino Melaye?

With his rugged looking appearance, no matter the number of native suits he wears, his audible voice in the senate is never mistaken for another. He has built up a strong persona over there that he seems to be unchallenged.

People like Dino Melaye feed off controversy. It is a shame, such a person is a senator in Nigeria.

His lifestyle, the way he tries women and his choice of words in addressing critical electorate concerns is deplorable.

This is a guy who threatened to slap a woman senator in the National assembly. He is a shame to his senatorial zone and a shame to Nigeria as well.

Controversy feeds his ego. Which is why he came to the National Assembly today, wearing and academic regalia. Can we ask him what he is trying to prove?

The controversy of him having finished at ABU and his name is not on the list of people that graduated that year, wouldn't have been an issue, if he doesn't feed off controversy. It is something that could easily be explained in a sane manner.

But of course, the egomaniac wants his name on the pages of newspapers and blogs. At a time the 8th Assembly is struggling with internal issues like the Magu screening, whistleblowers from the ICPC and EFCC, someone is trying to make the whole of Nigeria focus on him.

Again, everything about Nigerians is politics. I won't be surprised if the man on Bourdillion street is behind this recent controversy.
