6 Politicians Who May Run For President In 2019
The political landscape of Nigeria is always changing but the players remain the same.
2019 presidential election is going to be based on a lot of scenarios.
1. If Buhari continues as President after his vacation.
2. If PDP form a formidable Opposition
If these scenarios play out, we might get to see 6 fancied politicians for the Presidential seat.
1. President Buhari
If the Kastina born politician can overcome his frail health, he is the best bet to retain his seat in 2019. But it still remains to be seen if he will continue to that time.
2. Atiku Abubakar
He has never hidden his desire to run for the presidential seat. Many have asked that he allows younger generations to via for this seat, but the Adamawa born politician is not showing any signs of slowing down. After all, the current president is 70+
3. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan
No matter how much the current Government has ridiculed the past administration, GEJ is the most popular candidate of the PDP. Most Nigerian will like to see 2019 as a northern affair, but with the current economic situation we find ourselves, who wouldn't cherish the good old times.
4. Bola Ahmed Tinubu
The Jagaban of Nigerian politics has never shied away from challenges. It is one of the reasons he had to merge AD with CPC to form an alliance strong enough to remove the PDP lead government on the seat. With his popularity soaring over every nook and cranny of Nigeria, he might have built up a momentum to go for the jugular!
5. Rabiu Kwankwaso
A former governor and currently a senator under the aegis of APC, he was a presidential candidate under the ruling APC but pulled out for the incumbent president. It remains to be seen if he will remain in APC. Considering if PDP is looking for the northern ticket, Kwankwaso is likely to jump ship. He has been seen doing wide consultation about his ambition in the past, I won't be surprised if he throws his hat in the race.
6. Professor Yemi Osinbajo
He is more of a wild card. Seriously I don't see him contesting while Buhari and Tinubu have intentions. But you can never trust a man in power, it is intoxicating.
PDP will have to come up with a credible northern candidate if they choose not to go with Jonathan in 2019 elections
