2019 ELECTION IN NIGERIA

 It is no longer news that in February of this year Nigerians will match in their millions to vote for a credible candidate during the upcoming elections.
While we are happy that democracy is continuously growing in this country, we cannot, however, stop to look back at what has been a torrid four years for Nigerians.

The Buhari administration came into power when Nigeria was going through the most wicked time of corruption in the country. Campaigning on the change mantra, the Apc decided to tackle corruption in all its ramifications. So far, the challenges before it against corruption has not been an easy one in the past four years. From the house of assembly to the highest court in the land, the Buhari administration has faced countless challenges.

 However, it is still left to be seen if they contributed to their downfall.
As the general election draws near, millions of people are asking the same questions: are we going to continue being the poverty capital of the world under president Muhammad Buhari? Is our purchasing power going to continue to drop if we elect Muhammad Buhari? Will herdsmen continue to attack our farmers if we are select Muhammad Buhari? Will Boko Haram continues to terrorize the North and kill our soldiers if we elect Muhammad Buhari?

While this post is not meant to chastise anyone, it meant to draw a clearer vision to where we ought to be as citizens of this great nation.

Poverty in the North of Nigeria is the leading cause of some of the problems facing the region. The call for secession in the east is also a growing lack of trust in the government of the day.

Today, our currency has lost 100% of its value from what it used to be in 2015.

What options are there for Nigeria? The principal opposition party is fielding a candidate with a question mark on his character. The younger parties are fielding candidates who can't even win their local governments during an election.

Which way forward Nigeria? Are we going to continue to vote for octogenarians and septuagenarians as our leaders when we have budding youths in this country? When will our leaders of tomorrow come forth?
