The amount of time spent planning is so exhaustive that one can easily give up before even starting the process. Failed businesses are so easy to find these days than successful ones in Nigeria. As the environment of business keep changing the core elements of business stays the same. For one hoping to find a niche in any business, one of the most important elements to consider is the cash flow into the business. A business without cash flow is like a stream without water. Nigerian And African Businesses Foreigners Can Invest

Image
Africa is growing rapidly as the modalities for the establishment of the continent is continually changing. Small and medium scale enterprises constitute the number businesses spread out in Africa. Someone might be asking what Africans actually do to get by, as a large chunk of the continent is poverty stricken ; it is a consuming continent, not a producing one. SMEs however, is part of the development going on in Africa. We will study these businesses and see opportunities for Americans as well. Agriculture   The majority of raw materials in America and some other parts of the world like China are sourced from the African continent. Some countries have leveraged on the fact that the continent doesn't have the capacity to carry out some of the full-scales projects going on in other parts of the world.   Agriculture is as old as humanity itself in Africa, it is no surprise every part of it is brimming with agricultural activities. While countries like Nigeria are

Workers Day And Minimum Wage

Worker Days And Minimum Wage Quite a lot has been said about the recent pronouncement of the Nigerian labour congress and Trade union congress on the increase of minimum wage from 18000 Naira to something that actually reflects the actual economic situation of the country. According to the NLC president, When the wage was increased by the past administration in 2011, the equivalent to the dollar was $110, now it is $40. Following this reality, the Labour union is calling for an increase in welfare package, as salaries are not commensurate to what is been sold in the market. Someone like me aims to draw a line with this post. 1. A barrel of oil was selling for $145/per barrel as at the time the salaries of workers were increased, now they are below $55/per barrel. 2. Following the recent recession been faced by the country, now is the wrong time to call for increase of workers wages. 3. Lawmakers have increased their wages over the years as purported by the NLC. That i

Why Former President Goodluck Jonathan Was Betrayed

Image
The election has come and gone in 2015, but never have Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria's former civilian president barred it all on any platform than in a soon to be released book “Against The Run of Play” authored by the Chairman of ThisDay Editorial Board. In his words, he was quoted as saying "What is going on now with respect to Boko Haram was a similar thing that transpired in regards to Niger Delta activists in 2007. "I put forth a valiant effort thus did the military, however, I can comprehend if there is more noteworthy sense of duty regarding the battle now than previously. In my time, Boko Haram said they were battling a heathen government. That normally needs to change since they can't likewise call Buhari an unbeliever. "There is a sentiment 'our man is there now' that you can't disapprove. It was a similar feeling with me with the Niger Delta activists at the underlying stage in 2007," he said. The former president was also quote

Recovered Loots In Houses

With the recent discovery of $50 million in a house at Ikoyi Lagos, Nigeria, the fifth of such discovery in less than two months of the introduction of the whistleblower's policy. I am just intrigued to know how much we have found in the houses, soakaways, shops etc, of different individuals in the country and they are about $150 million altogether. what about those that we haven't found? I will I am not disputing the fact that individuals have rights to earn income from a number of sources but, we can seriously dispute the legitimacy of these ones and the secrecy behind it. Some of the culprits have claimed the monies were given to them as a gift, others are claiming it came from legitimate businesses. I guess it is left for them to explain themselves and for the courts to decide. But here is my take on the situation at hand. We are completely doomed as a nation. Why do I say so? During the military regime, a lot of us were only looking at General Sanni Abacha our Pres

Registration Of Unemployed Nigerians

The federal government of Nigeria will today open a portal www.jobsforall.ng   for the registration of unemployed Nigerians. This disclosure which was made by the Deputy Director, Information & Public Relations, National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Edmund Onwuliri, in Abuja. "The portal is aimed at bringing together employers and the unemployed under one platform, he said" A good initiative if you ask me under normal circumstances. Am not sure the government is aware of the proliferation of these types of agencies in the private sector. for instance; we have platforms like jobberman.com, jiji.com, efirintin.com etc in the private sector who are catering for such need, why make them run out of business? The reason for the private sector is for things like these to stay private. I don't see how the private sector will benefit from the government joining these scheme. It might be another form of strong harming the private sector to provide jobs when there are not

Tinubu's Comment

Image
Following the recent comment of Bola Ahmed Tinubu the APC leader in Nigeria, " that the southwest is solidly behind President Muhammadu Buhari."  one cannot help but wonder what must be going through his mind for making such a comment in this critical period of Buhari's government. First, he doesn't speak the voice of the common man and he doesn't speak the voice of the average Nigerian in the southwest. So where is that coming from? Is that suppose to mean a doubt in the people that clearly supported the APC during last elections? Following the recent recession that has hit this country, am not surprised that even "Jagaban" can read the handwriting on the wall. I want to understand something. We cannot criticize Buhari because we think his problems were predetermined by the Jonathan's Administration? Is that not what all politicians from opposing parties leverage on to gain power? Take Trump for example, he had to literally fight Obama during his ca
